Pixação skyrocket prices

October 4, 2008

In an attempt to bring attention and increase value of Street Art. Gallery Choque Cultural (cultural shock) a street art specialized gallery in São Paulo invited the street movement Pixação to make a performance that included spray-painting the entire gallery and works of fellow artists.

The happening took attention from brazilian jornalists and art dealers. Choque Cultural’s collection estimated value was over $5,000 to 10,000 USD. Now, at the after-performance vernissage day, just one of Spetto’s reworked canvas sold at $12,000.

Reworking art to take it back to it’s roots while doing exactly the opossite is the new black.

Art Orgy

October 4, 2008

This porn art represents the final atempt of humanity to get to the promissed orgy of the 60’s that never happened while also refering how heterossexual people tend to only notice the other sex, blocking out the other figures.

Art orgy biggest statment is that to grap attention to art, we should be crooked.

Untitled

October 3, 2008

Untitled is a description of a fictional piece of art. It’s represented as any common white clear wall, with  subtitled that explain what someone should think about the work.

“Untitled dialogs with Andy’s work and childhood. All strokes that he suffered from his deranged father and the period of his life when he was confined in a ward during his teenagerhood are continually refered by him as his “white years”, when he usually suffered visual collapses and stared at walls for days.

This work represents the emptyness of modern society, individuality and the self. all ideologies/ideas are dead, buried side by side with God. There is no need to art anymore. It’s serenity and — lack of — composition are a direct apropriation of our hypermodern world. Everyone is it’s author, any wall is an extension of it. Nothing left to say”

found object

Using Google’s — the most popular internet search engine — option “I am feeling lucky” and the word “Object” to wander through internet database, i picked up the first image of that inquiry, naming the piece after the image’s name. This is a chaotic/non-chaotic way to find an object, employing the world’s fastest computers and biggest databases on the search of a generic entry while giving the algorithms the power to choose, the result should be more/less specific than any other possibility of search.

Renouncing the artistique auteur and just acting with the most generic, blank and simple meanings of that virtual form, the work blends itself into the prosaic limit of it’s own rules of achievement. This also reflects internet’s spirit of all possibilities that get you nowhere. Object1_answer was based on the idea that a virtual object could transform itself through space, even virtual space.

This project was presented in the Bluebottle Art Gallery using an iMac connected to the internet, where the image is hosted.
